mama and dada

Hello, speaking world. Jack is entering it! Jack has been saying these words since 4 or 5 months old, but not as a title. He would say, "mamamammamamamamamam!!!!!!!!" as he cried, especially at night, when we was real little. But over the last two days, it seems as though Jack has been calling me Mom (more like Mam, or ma [pause] ma) and saying dada much more, to the correct parent. Today, he was across the room and saw me (sarah). I told him to come here, and Mike told him, "do you see mama?". He army crawled across the room saying "mam" once or twice, only to end his crawling at my pant leg (one of his favorite places to hang). It is so much fun to see him develop his language skills. He has been so much more affectionate as well. Lots of hugs and kisses, wanting to go to one of us much more (putting out his hands for us to take him when he's with others) and just a little lover. He's also teething or something like that, so if he's in a good mood, it's so good....but when he's not happy...it's obvious. He is becoming a little person. Not a baby, but a little guy with emotions and moods. It's been so much fun watching him grow...every day we fall in love with him more.

eight months old

I am eight months old today. It's been a rough day-either I am teething, gassy or just plain overtired so I did not nap well and I have been F-U-S-S-Y. It's actually been a fussy week. I fell asleep in the car-we took a ride up Highland Way to Corralitos to make sure i would get at least a little nap in. Once I knew Mom was going to bring out the camera, I was in a much better mood (for about 2 minutes). Here is me at eight months! (I'm freaking cute, huh?)

memories of my seventh month of life

I am super fun right now. Here are just a few things I can do now...

You can find me crawling to shoes or toes and try to pull myself up on mom's pant leg...

or hanging out underneath the dining table, especially if mom is sitting at it!

I love to give hugs and kisses (albeit wet and usually open mouth)...
I am a clapping fiend...I can clap when I am happy (but don't ask me to mimic you-I do this on my OWN time)...

I LOVE standing all by myself, holding onto furniture or the big yoga ball...

And don't forget grabbing the camera cord!
I am just growing and so. freaking. cute....

Bathtime Fun!

So, for a very long time...Jack didn't really care for bath time. Mom could never get the water temperature warm enough and couldn't move fast enough to make it enjoyable. I knew it was bath time and that Jack would probably not love bath time...

Until Dad taught him the magic of splashing. Now we splash. Splash, splash, splash. He actually learned this back at 6 months, but Mom finally broke out the camera to document the fun. (Now, the actual splashing can be found on my facebook, but here are a few cute pictures of bath time).

Lola and Auntie

I had a really nice time visiting with Lola (Mike's step-mom) and Auntie Christa (my only direct auntie except my great-aunt Debbi!) on wednesday. It had been a long time since I saw her last, but I like her a lot and remember her from the last time she visited. She played with me, gave me a lot of attention and I was really snuggly with her. She made this one noise, I can't describe it, but I loved it! I just wanted to cuddle with her all night! I missed you, Lola, and can't wait for you to visit again soon!

Love, Jack

grandma penny

Today we went up to the cemetery and "visited" grandma penny for the first time since J was born. She died 12 years ago today. And although we are happy she is in heaven, we miss her so. We wish Jack could meet her on earth. Mommy wishes she could have met her, too. But in the meantime, while we are all still on earth, we will share all the memories we can with Jack and celebrate her in our hearts.

We love you, grandma!

the boardwalk and car show!

So, this weekend, I went to my first ever classic car show with mom, dad and Grandpa Greg. So cool to see really old cars, all prettied up for us to see!

I also made it to the boardwalk for my first ever trip there! This makes me an official Santa Cruzan, right?

It was really cold out, so Dad made sure I was bundled up...
Asleep, of course...
The three of us...

The two early birds, together!

six months

Well, I have been in a disarray since coming home from Canada. After party hopping, staying up late and jet setting, Mom and Dad have diagnosed me with a problem: sleep deprivation. Mom and Dad have been bouncing me to sleep on a yoga ball since birth and I. am. rebelling. No, I will NOT stay asleep when you bounce me and my eyes close, heck no, techno. Over labor day weekend, they bounced me for 2 hours. Yep- TWO hours. Did I sleep? No. Did they sleep? No. Who won that battle? They did...

So, right before I turned 6 months, Mom and Dad have moved me into my own room. Honestly, once I put my tummy down to sleep, I realized I didn't need to be in mom and dad's room anymore. I was just milking mom for milk in the middle of the night, waking her up 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 times a night. So, after learning how to fall asleep on my own, I have been sleeping so much better. I'm usually up only one or two times a night.

On September 17th, I decided it was time. It was time to army crawl. I have been grunting to move for a while now, using rolling as my prime mode of transportation. But now, I can do it. (And, now that I know I can do it, I'm going to take a break and pick it back up in October). Mom's been working on uploading a video of me, but Blogger is taking a long time to load. (Come on, Blogger, get with it!).

Mom and dad decided to start solid food this month, 2 days before I turned 6 months. I had this green stuff called avocado. It's supposed to be good for me. I don't really like it, to be honest, but I try to be a good sport and eat it. After that, I've had sweet potato, rice cereal, oatmeal, and I tried to like it. But until I had pears-I wasn't into the solid food business. But pears, they rock my world.

I am also cutting my first teeth. My bottom left came up and all of a sudden, I felt crappy again and my right started to come up along with it. I like to chew anything and everything in sight. I am like a puppy. Give me a chew toy, stat!

What is also really exciting is that Mom quit her job at the church so she can be a personal trainer. It's so exciting because while she is studying, she will be home with me (yay, boobie all the time!! woo hoo!!). Dad is going back to school, too, which means he'll be home with me more, too. I am excited to see both of them more.
